The title of thesis is “Linear programming in planning and executing the exploration phase of mining”
The dissertation provides tools for more sustainable and efficient exploration phase of mining. These tools have a positive impact on the sustainability of the global raw material market. On one hand, laser-based online methods can be used to speed up and delineate the gathering of mineral information. Prompt measurement alleviates decision-making and enables more sustainable exploration. On the other hand, mathematics can be used to connect different levels of exploration, in order to take both geological and societal aspects into consideration simultaneously. The results can be used to achieve more sustainable exploration, as the research concentrates on the question how to reach a more sustainable – not just more profitable – exploration phase of mining. This is a fresh approach in the field of systems technology.
